Culture is a solution for the municipality

Executive summary:

A diverse cultural life is a sign of a vibrant municipality. Culture is a transformative force in the hands of the municipality, enabling it to increase its attractiveness, retention and enchantment at low cost. For wellbeing services counties, culture is a means of promoting the well-being and health of their inhabitants.

Objective:

The objective of the Central Organization for Finnish Culture and Arts Associations – KULTA ry and its member organisations in the regional and local elections is to ensure that culture is involved in solving all the key challenges facing municipalities and wellbeing services counties.

Culture and the arts are a solution for all municipalities: municipalities are very different from one another, but fortunately culture is a solution to many problems! KULTA’s election manifesto presents the potential challenges and problems facing municipalities of different sizes and wellbeing services counties, where culture is one of the solutions. The manifesto also gives gold stars for good practice in different parts of Finland. Culture is everyone’s right. Accessible culture, art and cultural heritage belong to everyone.

For wellbeing services counties, culture is a cost-effective way to promote people’s well-being and health, shifting the focus of public spending from expensive, curative treatments to preventive services for good living.
